Johann Kunz Nierade was born in 2000 in Dresden and grew up between foggy riverbanks and flickering television images. Long before he knew what cinematography really meant, he was already experimenting with miniDV, his friends in front of the camera—and capturing moments that never quite fit into the frame.
Today, he studies cinematography at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, where he continues to refine his visual language. His work often explores the fragile boundary between reality and illusion, between comfort and unease. Whether in narrative film, experimental formats, or music videos—Johann is drawn to images that linger and to questions that remain unanswered.
